1. Where is Riverbend Estate located?

Riverbend Estate rests gracefully along a bend in the Kalamazoo River, nestled in the heart of West Michigan. We're centrally located between Detroit and Chicago, just about 2.5 hours from each, making it a convenient gathering place for guests coming from all directions. Though we’re easy to get to, it feels like a world all its own, surrounded by serene water views, quiet woods, and rolling meadows.

It’s hard to put into words the feeling Riverbend evokes, but most couples say it’s something they sensed the moment they arrived. Originally an equestrian estate, the property has been lovingly restored and thoughtfully designed to honor its roots while offering all the refined touches of a modern venue.

We’re not just a backdrop, we’re a full weekend experience. From rehearsal to farewell brunch, our venue becomes your home for the weekend, with exclusive access to the estate and the elegant Riverbend Mansion.

3. How many guests can Riverbend accommodate?

Our spacious reception space comfortably accommodates up to 300 guests. Whether you're envisioning an intimate affair or a grand celebration, there's plenty of room to gather, dine, and dance the night away under the soft glow of our chandeliers.

4. Do you offer wedding packages?

Rather than offering pre-set “packages,” we believe in providing the freedom to create a day that truly reflects your story. We offer a full weekend rental, which includes exclusive use of the property and our beautiful mansion. From there, couples are welcome to curate their dream team of vendors to bring their vision to life.

While we don’t offer planning or décor services ourselves, we’ve worked with many talented vendors across a range of price points and are happy to share a curated list to help you get started. We do, however, offer extras, including decor rental and linen rental.

5. Is lodging available on-site?

Yes! While lodging isn’t included in the base rental, couples have the option to add on a stay at the Riverbend Mansion, either nightly or for the full weekend. This elegant estate home sits right on the property and offers a truly special setting for getting ready, hosting your wedding party, or simply relaxing with your loved ones. With spacious suites and river views, it's the perfect home base for your celebration.

6. Can we host our ceremony on-site?

Absolutely. Many couples choose to exchange vows right here on the estate, surrounded by nature and the people they love most. We have several picturesque ceremony locations to choose from, including our waterfront lawn, a meadow framed by trees, or a courtyard tucked beside the mansion. Whether you dream of an open-air ceremony or something more tucked away and intimate, we have a setting that fits.

7. What’s included with the venue rental?

When you rent Riverbend Estate for the weekend, you’re receiving:

• Exclusive access to the entire estate from Friday through Sunday

• Full use of the Riverbend Mansion for lodging and getting ready

• Access to our spacious indoor reception area (climate-controlled for all seasons)

• Picturesque ceremony locations

• Tables and chairs for up to 300+ guests

• Onsite parking for your guests

• A Riverbend host to help with property logistics throughout the weekend

And of course, countless photo opportunities throughout our meadows, riverfront, and winding forest paths.

8. Can we bring in our own vendors?

Yes. We welcome outside vendors and love seeing the creative teams our couples assemble. You're free to bring in the caterer, planner, florist, and photographer of your choice, as long as they’re licensed and insured. If you need recommendations, we’re happy to share trusted vendors who know our space well and understand our commitment to quality and care.

9. What is your rain plan?

Michigan weather likes to keep us on our toes, but we’re ready for anything. Our indoor reception space can be transformed into a beautiful ceremony site should the skies decide to open. It’s spacious, climate-controlled, and every bit as charming as our outdoor spaces, with views that stretch out over the river and surrounding landscape.

10. When should we book our date?

Our weekends tend to book up well in advance, especially during peak seasons (May through October). If you have a specific date or season in mind, we recommend reaching out at least 12–18 months ahead. We’re happy to schedule a private tour and answer any additional questions before you book.

11. Do you host other events besides weddings?

While weddings are our primary focus, Riverbend is also a lovely setting for engagement parties, rehearsal dinners, bridal showers, and milestone celebrations. Because we offer full weekend access to our estate, we often see couples make the most of their time here by hosting multiple gatherings with loved ones. If you're dreaming up something special, we’d love to hear more.

12. Can we schedule a tour?

We’d be honored. There’s nothing quite like walking the grounds yourself, hearing the birdsong from the trees, and imagining your celebration unfolding here. Tours are available by appointment, and we welcome you to bring along family members or your planner.

13.Is there Other Lodging Nearby?

Yes! There are 2 local hotels within a 15 minute drive from the venue including a brand new Holiday Inn Express set to open in 2025. We have also partnered with the Radisson in downtown Kalamazoo who offers shuttle service to the venue. There are some Airbnb, bed and breakfast's, and VRBO options in the area as well.
